Brimstone Hill Fortress – St Kitts

Brimstone Hill Fortress is situated almost 800ft above sea level, this fortress is one of the most dramatic and best preserved in the whole of the Caribbean. Construction took place over 100 years between the 1690s and 1790s and it’s now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Battles between the British and the French took place at Brimstone Hill as both nations sought control.

Step Aboard the Scenic Railway – St Kitts

Step aboard the scenic railway the “Last Railway in the West Indies”, which was built in the early 20th Century to deliver sugar cane from the fields to the sugar mill in the capital of Basseterre. Today, the railway provides visitors with a fascinating way to see St Kitts from the comfort of the open air carriages. It’s a great day out.

Stroll the Streets of Charlestown – Nevis

This lovely town is one of the best remaining examples of the colonial era in the Caribbean. Most of Charlestown looks identical as it was hundreds of years ago, where you’ll see fine examples of beautiful 18th and 19th Century colonial buildings.

Botanical Gardens – Nevis

Lying in the shadow of Mount Nevis, this five-acre garden is a wonderful, tranquil oasis full of tropical flowers and shrubs, orchid terraces and water lily ponds. The gardens are situated on land originally belonging to the Montpelier Estates where, further up the road, a young Horatio Nelson married Fanny Nisbet in 1787.

The Horatio Nelson Museum – Nevis

Offering a fascinating glimpse into the past, this museum displays original artefacts and memorabilia from the life and times of British Naval Admiral, Lord Horatio Nelson, who visited Nevis in the 18th Century.

Eat Eat Eat – St Kitts & Nevis

You’ll find the resorts here offer excellent cuisine, but there are many other superb restaurants. On Nevis, we can recommend Miss June’s, Unella’s by the Sea and Banana’s Bistro; whilst on St Kitts there’s Marshall’s at Frigate Bay, Fisherman’s Wharf in Basseterre and Spratnet in Old Road. Cafe des Arts on Nevis is also great for enjoying ice-cold tropical drinks whilst viewing the work of local artists.
