Grenada is an island country in the West Indies in the Caribbean Sea at the southern end of the Grenadines island chain. Before the arrival of Europeans in the Americas, Grenada was inhabited by the indigenous peoples from South America.Christopher Columbus sighted Grenada in 1498 during his third voyage to the Americas. Following several unsuccessful attempts by Europeans to colonise the island due to resistance from resident Island Caribs, French settlement and colonisation began in 1649 and continued for the next century.
Grenada, with its unspoiled landscapes, has the perfect balance, appealing to the interest of adventure lovers, beach dwellers, or couples looking for a romantic destination. On this picturesque and petite island, you can go for a swim in the crystal clear waters of Grand Anse Beach to trekking through the rainforest of Seven Sisters Waterfalls, all within a day. As an English-speaking nation Grenada has some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean, so, even if you happen to get lost, you will surely encounter other aspects of our vibrant culture and hospitality.
With less than 110,000 inhabitants and only 133 square miles of land, the tri island state of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique appears almost invisible on the world map. Despite its size, the island is widely known for its abundance of spices, unspoilt beauty and friendly people.
