Seddon Park

Hamilton’s pretty Seddon Park can hold up to 10,000 punters but still exudes a village-green atmosphere, its grassy banks perfect for picnics. Built-in 1950 it was named after New Zealand’s longest serving Prime Minister Richard (King Dick) Seddon, a tub-thumping politician in a similar mould to Churchill. The north-south pitch makes this a happy hunting ground for batsmen, the Windies racking up 363 runs in 50 overs. New Zealand holds all the test records here, totalling 592 against Pakistan in 2003 including a knock of 193 by Stephen Fleming.

Sling some Lemon and Paeroa in the Cooler, pack your lolly jar full of pineapple lumps and reserve your place in Hamilton for the tour of 2018.

You’ll find Seddon Park a very welcoming venue but remember to follow the rules. Etiquette is strongly adhered to! Here are a few top tips:

1. Buy your beer on site. You’re not allowed to bring it in.
2. No air horns, abusive signs or inflatable chairs. Spoilsports.
3. Cover up all gang patches and no scalping. If in doubt look them up!
