Here we go again.
The County Championship is fast approaching, and Surrey will be bidding for their fourth consecutive title.
Like other counties, they’ve strengthened their squad, though it looks like Sean Abbott won’t be part of the team this year. That’s a shame, as he’s an incredibly talented allrounder.
Every county will be aiming to take the title away from The Oval, so 2025 is shaping up to be a thrilling year of cricket!
England selection
Many England players will be looking to regain form after a disappointing series in Pakistan, especially those returning from injury.
And, of course, there are others eager to stake their claim for a spot in the squad and secure a place on the plane to Australia.
The Test series against India is absolutely crucial. A heavy loss could dent confidence ahead of the Ashes, and with potential injuries and dips in form, predicting the final Ashes squad is anyone’s guess.
Will Dan Worrall make the cut now that he’s eligible to play for England? Plenty of questions will be answered in the coming months.

The ICT family
I’ve received many messages over the winter asking for advice on Australia (for the Ashes) and have had the pleasure of meeting some of you for a drink and a catch-up.
I really enjoy these moments—it’s what makes us a close-knit cricket family, and I like to think we’re a little different from the rest!
For those interested, I still have a few spots available in our summer WhatsApp group. It’s a great place for cricket fans to connect.
I’ll also post updates when I’m at grounds around the country. If you’d like to join, send me a WhatsApp message on 07795 961678 or email me at cricket@ictours.co.uk.
I’m planning to attend the ODI against the West Indies at The Oval and hopefully a day at Old Trafford—perhaps some of you would like to meet up for a drink and maybe even dinner.

Join us on tour
Ashes tours are still available, and we’re awaiting confirmed dates for the New Zealand series. Ireland in September has been set in stone, and our tours will be available soon.
There’s even the possibility of an exciting trip that includes the final matches in New Zealand followed by the first Ashes Test in Perth—a fantastic opportunity for those who haven’t visited beautiful New Zealand, with a stopover thrown in. Of course, this all depends on the final schedule.
Until then, enjoy your cricket, and I look forward to catching up with many of you over the summer as we gear up for Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.
All the best,
Gary
