West Indies ODIs give us all a taste of things to come

ICT tour manager Gary Millis checks in with his latest blog as the English summer of 2025 ramps up, and looks ahead to the Ashes!

I don’t like cricket… I love it!

Last Tuesday, I went to the Oval for the ODI against West Indies.

In recent years, I’ve only seen this fixture at various grounds around the Caribbean. I’m pleased to say that West Indies appear to be heading in the right direction, despite the 3-0 series loss.

The following day, I read online that Graham Gouldman – from 10cc – attended the match. Apparently, it was his first visit to a cricket match, and he loved it!

He wrote Dreadlock Holiday, which references several experiences the band had while visiting the Caribbean in the 1970s. It’s a great song and is still often heard during tours in the Caribbean.

England now begin the Test series with India later this month. I’m very intrigued to see how it all unfolds.

If we go gung-ho like we did in India, we could be in for a rollercoaster ride. Obviously, the conditions will suit us. There seems to be a lot of debate about who should and shouldn’t be in the squad. We all have our opinions. and mine differ from those who’ve been selected!

I just hope it’s as exciting as their tour of Australia.

We’ve got a lot of overseas cricket coming up in the next few months: white-ball games in Ireland, followed by more in New Zealand, and of course, the Ashes.

If you’re on the fence about whether to go — give us a call!

I can promise you a trip of a lifetime.

Hopefully, see you there!
