National Stadium Karachi

Owned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), National Stadium, Karachi is an important landmark in the city of lights. The ground has witnessed legendary moments and a great number of sports enthusiasts cheering for their favourite team ever since its establishment.

National Stadium enjoys an incredible history. It has been used as the base for international cricket tournaments twice in history, majorly World Cups. We will discuss the details of those tournaments in the latter part of this blog. For now, let’s stick to the history and overview of the ground.

The stadium has welcomed some of the greatest players the cricketing world has ever seen, including Sachin Tendulkar, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Viv Richards, Mahela Jayawardene, and Thilan Samaraweera, marking their legendary records and contributing to the golden history of this arena.

At one point in time, the stadium was considered the largest cricket ground in Pakistan; however, its seating capacity was reduced after some recent renovations. Things took a dramatic turn when international cricket and cricketers stopped coming to Pakistan, but fortunately, the ground sprung back to life with the PSL. Karachi Stadium or National Stadium It is now considered the home ground for Karachi Kings – a PSL team.
