Barabati Stadium (Cuttack)
Built close to the ramparts of a historic fort on a spit of land by the Mahanadi river, Barabati Stadium in Cuttack is a cricketing ground with character. It has played host to most of India’s greats, many of whom revelled in its notoriously unpredictable wicket. Kapil Dev achieved his 300th Test wicket here and the legendary Vengsarkar delivered his highest innings of 166. Tests are no longer played at Cuttack but ODIs have gladly taken their place. England will need to pull off something special to win. One day wonders India have built a fearsome record, losing here for the last time in 2003.
