Explore nature

Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is a 40-minutes drive from the city centre, and its Eucalypt Forest is the place to see koala bears. The reserve has a series of wonderful walks in scenic surroundings, with excellent views of Canberra below. 

For the hikers among you, Namadgi National Park boasts a selection of stunning walks, from the 2.5km track from the Booroomba Rocks car park or to the 10.5km return from Honeysuckle Campground via the Australian Alps Walking Track.

The National Arboretum Canberra is 6km from the city centre. It is hime to 44,000 trees, in Canberra’s own aboretum, which can be viewed on foot, by bike or via a bus tour. 

Go wine tasting

Within a 35-minute drive from Canberra’s centre there more than 140 vineyards and nearly 50 wineries.

Sangiovese, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Tempranillo and rare varieties like Gruner Veltliner are all grown in the region, and there are a plethora of tour options available.
