The T20 Men’s World Cup June 4th to 30th 2024

55 Matches, 20 Teams, one Winner – Get set for a cricketing carnival in the Caribbean and the USA in 2024!

And … hold on to your sun hats … England are the team to beat.

When it was announced in 2021 that a joint bid from the West Indies and the United States had been awarded World Cup hosting rights it marked a real departure from the tried and tested. But it brings exciting opportunities to broaden your world cricket itinerary while also potentially enjoying one of Antigua’s 365 beaches, sipping rum poolside in Barbados or even making a foray into the Florida everglades.

Because in between the intense, quickfire and tactical battles on the pitch we’ll tour some of the Caribbean’s finest attractions, offer you sun-kissed watersport adventure on an azure sea and help you delve into the history of a chain of idyllic islands. Or perhaps even don our chaps and spurs and go horse trekking in Texas!

The format of T20 will leave you breathless … and so will our destinations.

Expected Dates/Matches:
55 matches – four to nine games featuring England – in Group stages, knockouts and the Final in June 2024. Venues include:

  • Sir Vivian Richards Stadium
  • Kensington Oval. Bridgetown
  • Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. Coolidge
  • Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. Gros Islet
  • Queen’s Park Oval. Port of Spain, WI.
  • Providence Stadium Georgetown, Guyana

and for the first time Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida and Nassau County in New York.

It is thought the USA venues will only feature the warm up games. More will be known in November.

Who will play in the 2024 T20 World Cup? From big hitters to emerging nations

As reigning champions – that sounds pretty special doesn’t it – England automatically qualified for the 2024 World Cup alongside seven of the other nations who made the Super 8 stage in 2022. This list includes the usual suspects of runners-up Pakistan, Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka plus fast improving Netherlands. Add in the hosts West Indies, the United States and next ranked Afghanistan and Bangladesh and we’re up to a dozen hopefuls.

2023 will see a series of qualifying events to decide the remaining eight teams from across the cricketing diaspora. Ireland look a strong bet to win through along with perhaps Scotland from Europe while fellow minnows Namibia, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Bermuda, the UAE and Nepal have realistic hopes of reaching the world stage.

We should know who will be there by late 2023. And soon after … where England will be playing.

Where will it be hosted?

With the United States and the component parts of the West Indies destined to divvy up the Group stages it’s safe to imagine that Barbados, Antigua, Jamaica and Trinidad will be among the islands vying for hosting rights. Across the Gulf of Mexico their northern neighbours will almost certainly opt for venues in either Texas or Florida. So, now is the time to start dreaming of soaking up the sun and the cricket at the Kensington Oval, the Sir Viv Richards stadium or St Kitts’ Warner Park. While, if all things come together, the United States is pinning its hopes on the Grand Prairie stadium in Dallas, former home of the baseball team, the AirHogs.

Details of your venues and the T20 World Cup squads will be available as soon as we have them.
