Itinerary
This 7 night extension prior to the 1st Test includes some of the best sightseeing highlights South Island has to offer. Cruise Milford Sound, fly by helicopter over glaciers and take the world famous Tranz-Alpine train across the Southern Alps.

Day 3 21-Nov
Queenstown/ Milford Sound cruise At 9:00am join your coach to commence a full day tour into the heart of Milford Sound. This overnight cruise through the heart of Fiordland provides astonishing views and the ultimate Milford Sound adventure. After your coach transfer from Queenstown, you’ll depart from Milford Sound wharf in the late afternoon before cruising through Milford Sound accompanied by our specialist nature guide. They’ll explain the history and geology of the area and be on hand to answer your questions. This cruise style is relaxed, allowing plenty of time to view the fiord’s spectacular waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife – you’re bound to encounter seals and, if you’re lucky, maybe dolphins and penguins too. The Milford Mariner then anchors in a sheltered cove. From here you can join the guide and explore in the vessel’s tender craft (small boat) or kayaks. If you prefer, you can simply relax on deck and soak in the beauty of this amazing place. If you’re feeling brave there’s always the option of a refreshing swim too. All activities are weather dependent. As evening falls, you’ll enjoy a delicious carvery buffet in the dining saloon – a feast prepared freshly by our on-site chef. Then it’s time to relax in the company of your fellow traveller, indulge in some star-gazing and story-sharing or simply retire to your private cabin.

Day 4 22-Nov
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading back out to the Tasman Sea (weather permitting) and exploring more of the fiord, before returning to Queenstown by coach. Transfer back to Queenstown. On arrival check-in to your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure.

Pick up your car rental and drive from Queenstown to Franz Joseph, approx. 5 hours. On arrival check in to your hotel.

Day 6 24-Nov
Day excursion: Helicopter Tour of Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers. This flight gives you the opportunity to discover the scenic wonders of both the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers.

Day 7 25-Nov
Check out of your hotel and drive to Greymouth. On arrival board the Tranz-Alpine Express train to Christchurch. On arrival make your own way to the Heritage Hotel. Join our cricket group for the 1st Test match at the Hagley Oval.
