South Africa v England 2026/2027 - Namibia Highlights Self Drive 4* accommodation

Day 1

Arrive in Windhoek, where you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Your car hire will be delivered directly to the guesthouse. A local representative will also meet you to go through your travel programme and assist with any questions you may have. Windhoek is a cosmopolitan melting pot of European architecture with African culture, with a variety of good restaurants to choose from.

Day 2-4

After breakfast, depart Windhoek to Namib Desert (4hr drive). This is the gateway to Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei, where some of the highest sand dunes on Earth stand towering over the white desert plains. The afternoon can be spent relaxing at the pool, or taking part in the afternoon sundowner nature drive.

Next day, entering the Namib Naukluft National Park with sunrise, you will be captivated by the surreal Deadvlei surrounded by some of the highest dunes on earth and Sossusvlei, where the dry Tsauchab River ends abruptly amongst dunes. Take the opportunity to walk up one of these majestic dunes to admire the desert landscape beneath. Thereafter we visit the Sesriem Canyon, a life sustaining natural phenomenon in the heart of the Namib Desert.

Day 4-6

Depart Namibi Desert onward to Swakopmund, often referred to as the “playground of Namibia for its numerous activities on offer. Take time to get the feel of this quaint town with its historic buildings, museums, shopping arcades and beach bar that has transformed into its own personality by the vibrant use of colour and the bohemian lifestyle.

Day 6-8

Leaving the foggy coast behind this morning, we make our way towards Damaraland. This harsh, rocky environment is home to the elusive desert elephant, the black rhino and free-roaming antelope species. Arrival at the lodge, with the remainder of the day at leisure to soak up the atmosphere of the lodge.

Day 8-9

Your onward journey takes you to the wildlife heaven of Namibia - the Etosha National Park. Check into your lodge located on the border of the Etosha National Park and unwind alongside the pool. The afternoon can be spent relaxing at the pool or taking part in optional activities offered by the lodge.

Day 10

Depart the lodge and start your more wildlife-focused self-drive journey through the Etosha National Park. Driving through the national park, becomes a game drive in its own right, with potential sightings of elephants, zebra and other wildlife animals along the way.

Day 11

Depart for Etosha National Park East for Windhoek (5h30 drive) and travel back through the centre of the country exposing bushland savannah to the capital in the centre of the country. Time permitting, en-route stop at the famous wood carvers’ market in Okahandja or the craft market in the main street in Windhoek to pick up a last few souvenirs for your last night.

Day 12

Enjoy a delicious Breakfast. Drop-off hired car at the airport before checking in for onward flight home.
