The story of 3 cricket loving guys on a South Island Adventure tour in NZ - Part 1 by Gary
As this blog is a journey of the three blokes on the trip we decided to write this together. It’s a bit like the cast from the Last of the Summer Wine.
Several mountain treks and willing to have a go at most things despite our age, we started the tour of South Island at the Pavilions Hotel Christchurch. Four of us ventured to Fiddlesticks for dinner, on our arrival back at the hotel, I met Bruce in the bar, if any of you know Bruce, you know he has this natural ability to wear colours that don’t match and resembles that of a clown! He is not adverse to wearing odd slippers either. Jeff ,mind you, is very reserved and great fun to be around, you now have a good picture of us.
The following morning, we all made our way to Greymouth by train, lovely scenery of mountains, viaducts, streams, goats and of course sheep. Sadly there had been a land slip so we completed the trip with a rail replacement bus. Just like being at home. We then picked up our car. With Bruce all kitted out in his chauffeurs hat and white gloves we made our way to the Fox Glacier. Peter and Jean following behind and the boys Chris and Dan who opted for the busman’s holiday route by bus. On the way Bruce alerted the following traffic which direction we were traveling in by the use of windscreen wipers. On arrival we decided to go and explore the area and we successfully walked the mountain and around the lakes with breathtaking views!
