The Cricketer – Village Cup Competition

We’re delighted to announce our support for The Cricketer Magazines Village Cup Competition, as their Official Provider of Cricket Club and Supporters Tours.

Supporting junior and club level cricket is as important to us as it is to The Cricketer, who have been the driving force behind the Village Cup since 1972.

Conceived as a way of nurturing grassroots cricket, helping celebrate cricket as the heart of our local communities and don’t forget unleashing the stars of tomorrow, the Village Cup is a fiercely contested competition between village teams across the country culminating with the final two teams battling it out at Lord’s no less.

The 2017 results are as follows Sessay 164-9 (CJ Till 46; TD Greaves 3-19) lost to Reed CC 170-3 (RJT Wharton 86*, JA Heslam 54) by 7 wickets

Speaking about supporting the Village Cup, International Cricket Tours Director, Sara Malin said:

“Our villages are the breeding grounds and grass roots of cricket communities, which is why we’re so pleased to be able to support the Village Cup and be able to communicate more directly with clubs from up and down country with some great offers exclusive to them.

We’ve recently recruited a new team member, Dilshan de Silva, who will take specific responsibility for clubs and schools tours.

Dilshan really understands the importance of local cricket, as a club cricketer himself, you could say there couldn’t be a more perfect man for the job!

So our appointment as the Official Provider of Cricket Club and Supporters Tour for the  Village Cup gives us a superb opportunity to offer our award-winning tour operation to these clubs and their members who are so passionate and important to cricket.”
