A great week In Amsterdam and the retirement of a legend
Three Years ago Sara and I went to Amsterdam for a recce for the ODI’s apart from the hotels that we put in place the rest was a bit vague as covid put back the tour another three Years!
But as soon as we arrived it all came flooding back and the tour was a complete success, my only worry was that the games would be one sided, they were, but the excitement of England breaking yet another record falling just two runs short of 500, I think we were all disappointed in the third match having won the toss and chose to field when we could of gone for it, and kept us on the edge of our seats all over again.
Being the shortest of tours one week, I think we all had a great time catching up with friends and making new ones, Sara organised a great trip around the canals, but because of the shortness of it and everyone having their own ideas of what they would like to do we left it at that! But a great tour and something for everyone.
Today we had the expected announcement of Eoin Morgan’s retirement, apart from breaking so many records in appearances, Sixes, but he is undoubtedly the reason England have been so successful in the white ball game, I for one didn’t want him to retire just yet, he is an amazing captain, he completely took us from an average side to winning the World Cup, his field placings were so advanced of other captains! It will be interesting to see how as is expected Jos Buttler takes over from him? I’m my life time there are two captains that stand out he is one Brearley the other, he knew what buttons to press with which players and got the best out off them, Morgan just instilled so much confidence in the side that so many records were broken. I take my hat off to you Eoin you’ve been a monumental cricketer for England and a legend that we will never forget!.
